NEW BELIEVERS

New Believers!

Praise God! Because He is so merciful. He’s given you new life, and true hope for the future as well as the certainty of living in heaven with Him forever! Until you’re there, He is with you and will always protect you. He loves you! See (I Peter 1:3-8)

The Problem

In the beginning, man disobeyed God and followed the leading of the devil.

“…For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:23)

This was an extremely serious problem because the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

God had an answer…

God had prepared for this and was willing to give his Son’s life to pay for our sins. (Romans 5:8)

Jesus tells us…

That we must be born again to inherit the kingdom of God . (John 3:3)

He came to give us real life, the best life possible here on earth and then in heaven with Him. (John 10:10)

Holy Spirit

The moment you received Jesus, God placed within you His Holy Spirit.

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.” (Ephesians 1:13)

How do we allow God’s Spirit to work in our lives? (Romans 12)

Learn to depend on the Holy Spirit to grow up in your new faith and overcome sin.

“Now to him (God) who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his (Holy Spirit) power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20)

The ability to follow God comes from outside of us – it is his Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8)

As you grow, you’ll find more of God’s love! (Romans 5:5)

Prayer

Prayer is talking with God and He is always ready to listen. (Psalm 55:17) .

The Bible commands us to talk to God all the time, anywhere! (I Thessalonians 5:17-18)

Prayer involves listening also. (Jer. 33:3)

Prayer will bring answers and direction for life.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Prayer is powerful! (James 5:16)

The Word

Physical growth requires food, doesn’t it. It also works that way spiritually. (Matthew 4:4)

The Bible compares the desire for spiritual food to a newborn baby desiring milk. (I Peter 2:2)

Ask God to give you that appetite for His Word! God’s Word is also light for us in this dark world. (Psalm 119:105)

Most of all, God commands us to obey His Word!

“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.” (James 1:21-22)

Sin

Sin no longer has to rule your life! (Romans 6:6-7)

Here’s more great news: You have also been set free from the condemnation of sin and guilt. (Romans 8:1-2)

God now sees you as perfect in Christ, not as a sinner. (Romans 6:16-18)

What do we do when we sin, when we disobey God’s Word? Look at I John 1:9 for the answer.

God hates sin; God desires obedience. (Romans 6:12-13)

To keep from sin, read God’s Word.

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:9-11)

Assurance

Satan wants you to doubt God’s love for you and the forgiveness of your sins. (Revelation 12:10)

But assurance of God’s love and forgiveness comes from God as we: *Obey God *Confess our sins to God (I John 1:6-10)

God has made you His child, and He will keep on changing you to become more like Jesus. It’s His work! (Philippians 1:6)

He won’t let go!

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (I John 5:11-13)

Abiding In Christ

God wants us to be more like Jesus every day. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

How does that happen?

John 15:4-8 describes it as staying attached to Jesus.

We can’t do anything in this life without Him. (John 15:5)

But…

We can do everything with Him! (Philippians 4:13)

Whatever we need for our spiritual life, God will supply it.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Fellowship

God desires a close relationship with you. (James 4:8)

It starts by reading His Word and doing it! (Psalm 119:66-68)

That relationship grows as we continue to obey Him and His commands. (I John 1:6-7)

When we gather with other Christians, we are strengthened in our life with Christ.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Life With Christ Begins Today!

The kind of life He wants for us is revealed by His Spirit, in His Word. (I Corinthians 2:9-10)

It starts today, not tomorrow.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

You are invited to New Believers Fellowship to study God’s Word and discover that new life in Christ!

It’s a great way to make new friends, ask questions, and get to know Jesus.
